Code of Conduct

All members of Malaysians Who Make ("MWM") are expected to follow our Code of Conduct, both online and during in-person events that are hosted and/or associated with MWM.

Who we are

MWM is a community designed for Malaysians Creators. Creators include Indie Makers, designers, writers or those who create.

We are a community.

Members are here to learn, share, help, support each other, discover opportunities and connect with other like-minded people. We expect you to present yourself to the community when joining and contribute by helping and supporting other members when you can.

We are inclusive.

Members of all genders, background, skills, experience are welcome to participate in all discussions on this community. However, we apologise that only Malaysians will be featured on the directory as the name of our community suggests.

This is a safe space.

We encourage discussion of sensitive and difficult topics so that we can support each other, help each other find solutions, and problem solve together.

Do

  • Use welcoming and inclusive language.
  • Self-promotion is okay but keep it within one message.
  • Be respectful of each other's viewpoints and experiences.
  • Refer to people by their preferred pronouns and use gender-neutral pronouns when uncertain.
  • Be nice when accepting constructive criticism.
  • Focus on what is best for the community.
  • Show empathy towards other community members.
  • Speak up and share your experience with others when appropriate.
  • Value each other. Many members of this community spend their precious and valuable time to give each other guidance, advice etc. If someone does this for you, acknowledge their comments, show appreciation, and pay it forward when you can.

Don't

  • Don't spam. Excessive self-promotion is also spam.
  • Don’t randomly message members in private. You can start a genuine conversation or ask questions in private but do not flirt, harass, spam others.
  • Don't insult or disrespect others.
  • Don't spread hateful messages and actions.
If you have any questions, feel free to send me a DM on Twitter or Telegram.
